Yes, Femme!

Yes, Femme! is a social practice project to create community spaces by and for queer femmes of color. This work builds off of The FEMME Project, in which participants have voiced the need for more femme-centered community spaces. The first iteration of Yes, Femme! was lead by a steering committee of Richard Clark, Jamisha Williams, M, Shayna Hargraves of Femmepremacy, and Jaime Lee, and consisted of: Yes, Femme! Eat, a communal dinner; Yes, Femme! Fight, A self-defense workshop centering de-escalation and physical combat skills; Yes, Femme! Feels, a combination open mic and dance party; and Yes, Femme! heal, a collective wellness night. The series culminated in an exhibition of The FEMME Project. The first iteration was supported by The Laundromat Project.
